Ludwigshöhe
'Ludwig's height' — named after Ludwig von Welden (1780–1853), the Austrian general and naturalist who made the first ascent in 1822 and who published the first scientific monograph on Monte Rosa.
Modest snow dome on the Monte Rosa ridge, commonly combined with Parrotspitze or Corno Nero from the Capanna Gnifetti.
Climbed on 25 August 1822 by the Austrian general and naturalist Ludwig von Welden with a party of locals from Alagna — one of the earliest of all Monte Rosa ascents. Welden published a careful scientific monograph on Monte Rosa in 1824 that was the first serious topographic study of the massif, and the summit is named in his honour. It is a modest snow dome that today is climbed almost exclusively as part of the Spaghetti Tour from the Mantova or Gnifetti huts.
