Zumsteinspitze
Named after Joseph Zumstein (1783–1861), forester of the Kingdom of Sardinia at Gressoney, who made the first ascent on 1 August 1820.
Monte Rosa subsummit between the Dufourspitze and the Signalkuppe, named after the surveyor Joseph Zumstein.
Climbed on 1 August 1820 by the Gressoney forester Joseph Zumstein with the Chamonix guide Joseph-Marie Couttet and three local porters — twenty-five years before the Dufourspitze, twenty-two before the Signalkuppe. Zumstein was a forestry inspector for the Kingdom of Sardinia and made repeated systematic ascents on Monte Rosa in 1819–1822 as part of a survey of the high pastures. The peak is named after him; it is the most prominent of the surveyor-named summits on the massif's central plateau.
