History

Named after Friedrich Parrot (1791–1841), the German naturalist and physician who in 1829 made the first recorded ascent of Mount Ararat (5137 m) and who carried out early scientific work on Monte Rosa. The summit was first climbed on 16 August 1863 by an English party with Anderegg. The Parrotspitze is taken in today as one of a string of summits on the classic 'Spaghetti Tour' high-altitude traverse of the Monte Rosa summits.

Glaciated snow ridge between Ludwigshöhe and Signalkuppe. From Capanna Gnifetti the standard route follows the Lys glacier to the Lisjoch (4248 m), then turns north along the broad, gently angled snow ridge with a steeper final pull (35°) to the summit. Frequently combined with Ludwigshöhe and Signalkuppe in a Monte Rosa east-side round-trip.
